season of motherhood
Over the summer this girl turned 10, and I turned 50. Like the frames on the wall, we both are entering that next stage, that next decade, that next… frame. What will that picture hold? I witnessed her “grow up” over the summer. She’s practically as tall as me and is changing.
I’ve been here before. I’ve stood right here and watched my now adult sons cross this road. I watched them enter the “frame of life” where you go from being a child to a young adult. They pull away, they resist. They sit next to you on the couch less. They ask for your help less. But one lesson I learned was that this is the time when they need you the most… just in different ways.
I’m going to savor every step of this frame my dear… it goes so quickly.
Welcome to Artifact Motherhood. This is a collaboration of artists from around the world who have come together to share our stories of the joys and struggles of our journey. Through our writings and visual records we want to create memories that are more than photographs with dates written on the back. These are the artifacts we are leaving behind for our children and for generations to come.
